The sugar industry in Trinidad and Tobago is
being considerably reduced in size and will no longer dominate the
landscape of central Trinidad as it did for the last two centuries. At
this critical juncture of modernization a young photographer, Garnet Ifill,
with far-reaching eyes, decided to capture that departing heritage. This
collection of photographs embodies that past which is no longer present.
It is timely in that it records vistas which will shortly be permanently
obliterated.
